About Alan

Alan was born in the Shetland Isles in 1972. He has since lived in Glasgow and Dumfries and now lives in Halifax in West Yorkshire.

He is a Technical Lead in the E-Commerce IT department of a major UK banking company. His favourite media for painting are fine line ink, pencil/charcoal, watercolour and acrylic.

Favourite subjects include old architecture and dramatic landscapes and a lot of his work is inspired by the scenery of his native Shetland Isles although he has painted as far afield as the French Alps and the Australia.

As you will see from the comments on many of the pieces, Alan does many privately commissioned pieces, mostly by word of mouth.

In his woodworking he concentrates wherever possible on using recycled and reclaimed timber, which, while it involves more effort in preparation gives the finished pieces much more character.

His web design work ranges from design creatives and concepts to full site build and hosting.
